The Efficacy of Reparation

Why is reparation necessary if Christ cannot suffer any pain in Heaven? Since His Resurrection, Christ enjoys perfect happiness and cannot suffer in body or soul, yet, in many of His apparitions, Our Lord is seen in a state of agony. Although these apparitions do not depict the current reality, they do truly show the pain Our Lord suffered during His life, because, in His foreknowledge, He was sensitive to, and suffered for, all the offenses of mankind in all the ages to come. All future evil thoughts, words, and deeds of humanity were absorbed in the Passion of our Redeemer. We are not dispensed from the duty of reparation, because we have the obligation to repair the damage done. Although we cannot make-up for our sins through our own effort, when we unite our penances, mortifications, and sufferings with those of Christ, they have great value and can appease the justice of God. In His Passion, Christ also saw all the works of reparation that would be performed, and these consoled Him during His sufferings on Earth.
